They have an office in San Diego called
American Metabolics, but the hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, is located in
a working-class section of Mexico, ten miles south of San Diego. It is a small hospital in a
garden setting. The clinic was temporarily shut down, but have advised us
they have re-opened.
For ten years they have been treating degenerative diseases, particularly cancer, with a wide variety of
alternative protocols. The hospital has 8 private rooms with an extra bed
for family members or friends to stay. In some cases it might be necessary
to share bathroom facilities. There is a complete organic food kitchen.
There are three doctors on staff and approximately thirty other employees.
A metabolic therapy program is
developed to balance the patient's health and to train the immune system
to eliminate cancer. A variety of approaches are used including: chelation
therapy, supplements, enzymes, lymphatic therapy, acupuncture, Oxygen
therapies, lmmunotherapy, Colon therapy, Rife frequency generator
technology, botanicals, specialized herbal medicines, shark liver oil,
intravenously delivered laetrile (amygdalin), Cranial
electro-stimulation, reflexology, nutritional therapy, detoxification, and
counseling. In some cases they may actually use low-dose radiation or
chemotherapy. There
is even a 7-21 day tissue cleanse and complete mercury amalgam removal
program.
The protocols for treating cancer developed
by American Metabolic's medical director, Dr. Geronimo Rubio, were
featured in Burrton Goldberg's 1100 page best selling cancer-
treatment reference book The
Alternative Medicine Definitive Guide to Cancer.
American Metabolics uses vaccines that are cultured from
the patient's blood and tumor cells. Although all forms of cancer are
treated, they appear to have had the most success with lymphomas, liver, brain,
breast, pancreas and lung. Recently we had one patient with breast
cancer whose cancer started growing again within a couple of weeks after
attending the clinic and getting the vaccine - she will be going to
another clinic for follow up treatment. You should be aware that this can
happen at any clinic - not all approaches will work for everyone.
Many others have reported success at this clinic, but we recommend that
you talk to people who have gone there recently before thinking about
going to the clinic. Confirm the costs to attend and where the
treatment will be done.
Note: We have received a couple of
complaints regarding the costs to attend the clinic or for particular therapies.
It is recommended that you have your medical records reviewed so the
doctors can give the best estimate on time required for treatment and
costs. If
you decide to go to this clinic, we recommend that you get all costs in
writing up front before starting therapy so there will be no
surprises.
